Certifications and Affiliations

The laws protecting consumers continue to change at breakneck pace. Many competitors simply sell data without regard for the laws governing its usage. To protect our clients, we have invested in business affiliations and implemented several internal programs to help ensure compliance with the changing laws. Here are a few examples of our initiatives and affiliations that demonstrate our intense customer commitment: All of our sales and processing staff are certified annually in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fact Act. (FCRA) This complex legislation contains many different requirements that Consumer Reporting Agencies, furnishers of data (to the agencies), users of consumer reports, and others must follow.  To protect our clients, we routinely offer guidance and support that help them ensure compliance.   National Association of Professional Background Screeners. We are a member of this international group of elite background screening companies. The mission of this group is to share information about compliance with state laws relating to background screening. We also take an active role regarding any new state legislation.   SIR is a designated agent of the Department of Homeland Security. We are authorized to verify new hires' legal right to work in the United States.  Designated Agent DHS (90.85 kB)   SIR has been affiliated with Experian for over 30 years, first as an affiliate bureau and presently as one of their Sales Agents nationwide. We have direct access to consumer credit from Experian's extensive database, allowing you to make better decisions.   We are active members of the Credit Data Industry Association (CDIA) and the National Credit Reporting Association (NCRA). These organizations provide guidance and education about existing credit laws and promote ethics throughout the industry. Both organizations share a common mission of helping to promote compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fact Act. In addition, they both advocate and impact future legislation.   National Apartment Association. SIR maintains a membership in this nationwide alliance of multi-family housing companies. With members in all 50 states, they cover over 5.2 million apartments. NAA serves the unique interests of its members through education and lobbying efforts. Their expertise in regulatory, compliance, and discrimination issues in any state are essential.
